This workshop will introduce participants to the Discovery Network, a statewide consortium of both informal and formal education institutions aimed to ignite a passion for STEM education through inquiry-based learning. Through membership fees and other revenue streams, the Museum of Discovery serves as a hub to support other like-minded learning institutions in providing maker education. Services include staff capacity building, kits, and support for Tinkerfest. Participants will gain an understanding of this fee-based membership model, explore with some of the mobile maker education kits, understand how teaching methods are adapted for different stakeholders, and how the Discovery Network increased membership by 200% in just 12 months. Workshop includes several meals and workshop materials. Schedule: 12/4- optional group dinner (no-host) 12/5 - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm 12/6 -9:00 am - 2:30 pm After registering, ASTC staff will provide hotel and travel information.
